3M has identified that X4 ear muffs manufactured during this time period may develop cracks on the outside of the muffs (see Annex A). All products manufactured within this timeframe should be taken out of use, even if no cracks are visible on the muffs. Please refer to the instructions below to determine which products are affected by this notice and any replacement instructions. There have been no reports of personal injuries or accidents associated with this notice.
Step 1: Determine if the ear muff's Model ID is affected. Locate the Model ID printed on the outside of the muff (Figure 2). Compare the Model ID on the muff with Table 1 (above). If the Model ID matches any in the table, proceed to step 2. If it does not match any in the table, continue using your product as it is not affected.
Step 2: Locate the manufacturing date (Mfg) (MM/YYYY) printed on the outside of the cup (Figure 2). If the ear muff's manufacturing date is between 03/2020 and 09/2022, proceed to step 3.
Step 3: Contact your retailer to return your affected products for a replacement product (if available), alternative product, or credit.
Once you have received this message, please register a return/claim via skydda.com and write in the comment box that this concerns the Peltor X4 recall. If you have affected products in stock, register them and return them according to the instructions provided on the return report that we will send to you. We will also send you a prepaid return shipping label.
Immediately forward this message to all your customers who have purchased the affected products from you and provide any assistance your customers may request to complete the process. We will credit all earmuffs purchased during the specified period, which are registered via skydda.com and then returned to us. To receive credit, the inventory must be returned to and received by us.
