	EN 397:2012 Industrial helmets EN 397 specifies both physical and functional requirements. Physical requirements include materials, construction, and size, while functional requirements include shock absorption capacity, lateral stiffness, and protection against penetration by sharp objects. The chin strap releases at 15-25 kg to prevent the helmet from causing strangulation or injury in case of a fall where it could get stuck. In most cases, EN397-compliant helmets are recommended for work at heights.
	EN 812 Bump caps EN 812 specifies the tests that a bump cap must undergo and pass. These are largely similar to the tests that a safety helmet undergoes. 	EN 12492:2012 The chin strap on helmets certified to EN12492 releases at a pressure of at least 50 kg. Therefore, the helmet remains in place in case of a fall and is suitable for environments such as rock climbing to protect against falling rocks.
